Next Up: Registration for Fall semester is on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 6:15 p.m. at Nativity Lutheran Church on Old County Road in Rockport. Our first rehearsal follows immediately, from 7 to 9:15 p.m.

2008 - 2009 Season

Down East Singers (DES) will perform the Bach Magnificat, with orchestra, and other works of the season on December 12 and 13, 2008, in Rockport. This year, Lincoln Academy (Newcastle) choristers, under the direction of Beth Preston, will be joining DES to sing the choral sections of the Magnificat and will also present some of their own repertoire. The 15-member orchestra will consist of area professional musicians. The solo movements of the Magnificat will be sung by members of DES.

On Monday, May 25, 2009, DES will present Schubert's Mass in G for its annual Memorial Day observation.

And in July 2009, members of DES will join the Rachmaninoff Choir, directed by Anthony Antolini, on a concert tour to Belgrade, Serbia; Sofia, Bulgaria; and Thessaloniki, Lesvos, and Athens, Greece.
